Street and Streetscape Updates

Through the Municipal Aide Program the town of Mt. Ephraim has been able to provide improvements to several streets.  In the last three years the borough has been awarded roughly $450,000 to undergo some much needed street repair.  So far, the borough has had a portion of Green Avenue repaved.  On approximately March 24, 2008, the street improvement project on a portion of Third Avenue will begin.  With the “free money” that the town of Mt. Ephraim will receive for the year 2008, the Fifth Avenue project will begin.

Also, through the Community Development Block Grants, the borough has seen the addition of handicap ramps on various street corners.  For the years 2007 and 2008, Mt. Ephraim has received money to convert the fire house on Station Avenue into a Senior Citizens Building.

Phase one of the streetscape project is now completed with monies from Camden County and local businesses.  Phase two of this project now begins with trying to secure federal funds.

Finally, the borough of Mt. Ephraim will be installing speed humps at various locations in town.  There will be two speed humps placed on Fourth Avenue.  The first one will be placed between Delaware and Pennsylvania Avenues and the second one will be placed between Pennsylvania and New Jersey Avenues.  James Street will also be receiving at least one speed hump.  These speed humps are being installed due to requests from the public to help curb speeding on local streets.
